President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to expanding mental healthcare nationwide as the COVID-19 pandemic makes more people vulnerable to psychological illnesses.
In a tweet, on the occasion of World Mental Health Day, President said that the COVID-19 pandemic underscores the importance of quality mental healthcare.
He noted that access to mental health services remains a key aspect of our public health outlook.
President Solih said that this why on this World Mental Health Day, the government is reaffirming its commitment to expanding mental healthcare nationwide.
World Health Organization WHO had said on the occasion of World Mental Health Day that that investment in mental health programs at the national and international levels, which have already suffered from years of chronic underfunding, is now more important than it has ever been.
It added that this is why the goal of this year’s World Mental Health Day campaign is increased investment in mental health.
