Police have arrested a man from Alifu Dhaalu Fenfushi in possession of narcotics drugs after they raided a house on the island.
Police said the 39-year-old local man was arrested in possession of half a kilo of narcotics drugs and the raid on the house was conducted after receiving a tip that the man had been dwelling in the possession and trafficking of crystal meth.
It said that in a joint operation, police officers from its Intelligence unit along with officers from Fenfushi Police Station and officers from the neighboring Maamigili police station had raided the suspect’s house on the 8th of this month.
Police said the raid was carried out under a court order and that police had found two rubber bags and packets allegedly containing crystal meth from the suspect’s room.
Police said these alleged substances weighed 536.2 grams.
The law enforcement agency also said that the suspect arrested in relation to this case is notorious for masterminding a vast drug trafficking network with the Alifu Dhaalu Atoll.
Police said Alifu Dhaalu Mahibadhoo magistrate court has sentenced that the suspect be remanded in custody for 15 days and police stations in Mahibadhoo and Fenfushi were actively investigating the case.
