Police say a married couple arrested for alleged sexual abuse against a 15-year old boy have been remanded in custody for 7 days.

Police said that report of the said abuse was made on the 3rd of this month at 4:00 pm and that the report said that two perpetrators had been involved in sexually abusing the underage boy.

Police had also said that a 29-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman was arrested last night in relation to this case as the investigation continues.

Several videos of the couple being led away had been circulated on social media.

Police had said that the couple had been taken in front of a judge for their remand hearing and that the court had sentenced that they are remanded in custody for 7 days.

Local media reports have said that several people had protested against the married couple outside their residence yesterday calling for arrest. Police were then seen on social media footage leading away two people in a patrol car from the scene and had said that they had given protection to two individuals by allowing them into a patrol car.

The couple accused of child abuse is said to be a local movie star and his wife with several online users aiming harsh criticism at the couple.

The couple caught the nation’s attention after protesting outside the President’s Residence demanding that they be allowed to travel abroad to treat their daughter. They had received financial assistance from several generous donors but later made headlines again for their apparent misuse of these funds.
