Health Protection Agency HPA says effective today restrictions “on” vehicles on the road from 8 to 10 pm

in the greater Male’ area will be uplifted.

In a tweet, it also said that the curfew imposed in Greater Male’ Area would remain from 10 pm to 5 am where both vehicles and pedestrians are prohibited from going outside.

HPA thanked the public for its support in slowing the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

It also advised the public to keep practicing life-saving practices such as washing hands, social distancing, and wearing masks properly. It also urged the public to limit going out only for essentials.

HPA eased the vehicular ban amid a drop in the daily cases reported in the country. Yesterday HPA reported 44 new cases of COVID-19 including 38 locals and 6 foreigners.

A total of 10398 people has now tested positive for COVID-19 in the Maldives since March of this year with 9213 now recovered from the illness.

The global pandemic has claimed 34 lives here in the Maldives with 28 locals and 6 foreigners all succumbing to the illness since April.
