Police say it has arrested 6 individuals over alleged possession of drugs after carrying out operations in four islands spanning four Atolls.

Police said that it carried out these operations based on the information received by its intelligence unit.

It said that the operations were carried out in Haa Dhaalu Kulhudhuffushi, Dhaalu Kudahuvadhoo, Thaa Madufushi, and Gaafu Dhaalu Thinadhoo.

Police said it received an intelligence report about a drug ring in Kulhudhuffushi and had conducted an operation last Sunday. It said that 3 local men were arrested during the operation and that two of the men were 38-year-old while the 3rd was 34-year-old.

Police also said the men were arrested after a raid on a house on the island and that suspicious substance packed in rubber packets and cellophane were also found from the scene of the raid.

Police noted that its officers in Kudahuvadhoo had noticed a man exhibiting suspicious behavior and found drug-like substances on his person after he was searched. Police said its officers had arrested the 34-year-old local man after the search.

In Madifushi, officers from its police station teamed up with their counterparts in the neighboring Dhiyamigili to carryout a drug operation and apprehended a 36-year-old local man after finding suspicious substances packed in a rubber packet on his person.

Police said that it had conducted a drug operation in Gaafu Dhaalu Thinadhoo yesterday following an intelligence report. It said that a 27-year-old local man was arrested in the operation after searching his residence under a court order. Police also said that they found 15 rubber packets, 23 pieces of cellophane, and empty film casings containing drug-like substances.

Police had said that all four cases were currently under investigation.
