Maldives Transport and Contracting Company MTCC says the boatyard it operates in the industrial island of Thilafushi is set to reopen.

The boatyard was closed down after the Greater Male’ Area was put under lockdown earlier this year following the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in the capital.

MTCC said that the boatyard in Thilafushi would open its doors to the public next Sunday.

The Company said that the boatyard is ready to resume operations and that all the safety measures are all in place.

The MTCC boatyard is the biggest in the country that provides docking services.

MTCC said that with the recently installed 200-ton boat hoist, the dockyard boasts one of the largest boat hoists in the country and has the capacity to service more than 20 vessels of varying sizes at a time.

At the boatyard, MTCC Engineering and Docking Service offer docking service for vessels of various sizes using boat hoist, cranes via duplex slings, slipway, boat trailers, and airbag technology along with complementing engineering services.
