Authorities have lifted Noonu Atoll Manadhoo from monitoring after all the random samples taken from the island came back negative for COVID-19.
The island was lifted from monitoring after being in the status for five days.
Authorities confirmed that Manadhoo was lifted from monitoring after they confirmed that there is no risk of local transmission of the COVID-19 infection on the island.
Authorities reported that a local man under home quarantine had tested positive on the 11th of this month but found out that the person had disobeyed quarantine rules by going on fishing trips and visiting the mosque for Friday prayers before he was cleared from home quarantine.
As a result, 26 others have now been quarantined on the island.
A total of 9328 individuals have tested positive for COVID-19 in the Maldives since March of this year. Authorities have confirmed that 7729 people have since recovered from the illness in the Maldives.
A total of 33 people have died from COVID-19 in the Maldives including 26 locals and 6 foreigners.
