Health Protection Agency HPA has confirmed 121 new cases of COVID-19 in the Maldives.

In a tweet, HPA said that 102 cases were reported from the Male’ Area on Sunday while 19 cases were reported from the islands.

HPA said that the new cases include 75 locals and 46 foreigners.

This takes the total number of cases to 9173.

Meanwhile, HPA reported that 271 recovered from COVID-19 in the Maldives on Sunday taking the total recoveries to 7326.

HPA said that 1809 active cases of COVID-19 remained across the country and that 1087 remained in isolation facilities. It also said that 113 COVID-19 patients have been hospitalized for further treatment.

The Agency noted that currently, 25 islands are hosting active cases of COVID-19 with Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll Hoadedhoo and Madaveli as well Noonu Atoll Manadhoo still under monitoring.

HPA also confirmed that 32 resorts are hosting COVID-19 cases as well including 21 tourists and 48 staff.

Authorities have reported 32 COVID-19 deaths in the Maldives since April and this includes 26 locals and 6 foreigners.
