Health Protection Agency HPA has confirmed 62 new cases of COVID-19 in the Maldives taking the total number of cases past 9000.
In a tweet, HPA said that 51 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the Greater Male’ Area while 11 were from the islands.
HPA also said that the new cases include 44 locals and 18 foreigners.
The new cases have taken the total number of positive cases reported in the Maldives to 9052.
Meanwhile, HPA confirmed that 209 individuals have recovered from the serious illness in the Maldives. This takes the total number of recoveries to 7055.
HPA said that there are 1960 active cases of COVID-19 in the country at the moment with 908 currently placed under isolation at various facilities.
Also, HPA confirmed that the number of hospitalized individuals have now dropped to 116.
The Pandemic which reached the country’s shores in March of this year has now claimed 31 lives here in the Maldives. This includes 3 this month.
Authorities have confirmed that 25 locals and 6 foreigners have succumbed to the global pandemic in the country.
