Health Protection Agency HPA says the 58-year-old who died while under treatment at Kulhudufushi Regional Hospital has been declared as a COVID-19 death.

In a tweet, HPA said that a 58-year-old Maldivian man who was undergoing treatment for cancer and in quarantine in Ha.Kelaa, passed away at KRH at 08:15pm yesterday.

HPA said this is the 3rd individual to die from COVID-19 this month and the 31st individual to die from the pandemic since April.

Earlier tonight, HPA confirmed that a 60-year-old Maldivian man admitted at HMF, ICU had passed away.

A total of 25 locals and 6 foreigners have now succumbed to the pandemic in the Maldives.

Most of the locals who have died from the illness include elderly patients with underlying health issues. Although a 42-year-old woman had also died from the pandemic in the Maldives.

The six foreigners include 5 Bangladeshis and 1 Filipino national.
