The Procurement Policy Board has approved its own Standing Order and has published the rules in the Government Gazette.

The Procurement Policy Board was established to fine-tune the policies regarding the public procurement functions of the government and came into force on the 23rd of February earlier this year.

Seven members currently sit on the board.

Finance Minister Ibrahim Ameer was appointed as the chairperson of the board while board members include state minister at finance Ministry Ahmed Shareef, Mohamed Ibrahim Naeem, Mohamed Shifaaz Ali, Ajuwad Musthafaa, Dr. Mohamed Adil, and Shuhaad Ibrahim.

The Standing Order of the board stipulates that members of the procurement policy board must not be actively involved in the procurement functions of the government. It stated that members must have experience in the public procurement field or related fields and should not be convicted of any prior money-related crime.

Members on the board would be automatically dismissed if they were convicted of a crime or if a member misses three consecutive board meetings without a valid reason.

The standing Order vested several powers and responsibilities to the board including operating the procurement system and enhance the functions of the system.
