Authorities confirm that an individual who died in Haa Dhaalu Kulhudhufushi has tested positive for COVID-19 posthumously.

Speaking to ‘The Press’, Manager at Kulhudhufushi Hospital Ahmed Daood said that the 58-year-old man died while under home isolation last night.

Sources have said that the individual was originally from Haa Alifu Kelaa and had traveled to Kelaa from Male and had been under home isolation. Sources also said that the man had then traveled from Kelaa to Kulhufushi sometime yesterday and was kept under home isolation at a quarantine facility in the island as he had yet to complete the 14-day quarantine period since traveling to Male’.

Sources added that the individual was treated while at the facility and that the person had underlying health conditions.

Authorities have confirmed that 29 individuals have died from COVID-19 in the Maldives including 23 locals and 6 foreigners.

Health Protection Agency HPA had said before that the confirmed cases of COVID-19 include 6 deceased positives whose cause of death is not directly due to COVID-19.
