Health Protection Agency HPA has reported 125 new cases of COVID-19 in the Maldives today.
In a tweet, HPA said out of the 125 new cases 106 were confirmed from the Greater Male’ Area while 19 were reported from the islands.
HPA also said the new cases include 112 locals and 13 foreigners.
This takes the total number of COVID-19 cases to 8468.
Meanwhile, HPA confirmed that Gaafu Dhaalu Hoadehdhoo and Gaafu Dhaalu Madaveli are now currently under HPA monitoring following a community outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in the former.
HPA reported that authorities have now confirmed 21 new cases of COVID-19 from the island and 19 identified as contacts of the first two individuals who had tested positive for the illness having presented at the island’s flu clinic.
HPA added that four others have also been tested positive for COVID-19 from the island but were unrelated to the latest positive cases as all four were individuals who had completed the 14-day mandatory home quarantine.
HPA said that 39 islands including Hoadehdhoo are hosting 111 cases of COVID-19 at the moment. It added that 20 resorts have also reported active cases of COVID-19 including 17 tourists and 45 staff.
