Health Protection Agency HPA has confirmed 141 new cases of COVID-19 in the Maldives on Thursday.

HPA said out of the 141 new cases, 134 cases were reported from the Greater Male’ Area while 7 were confirmed from the islands.

HPA also said that the new cases included 98 locals and 43 foreigners as the Agency has now stopped giving nationality details of the new cases confirmed in the country.

Thursday’s cases take the total number of COVID-19 reported in the Maldives to 8281.

Meanwhile, HPA confirmed that 145 individuals had recovered from the illness in the Maldives on Thursday taking the total recoveries to a promising 5483.

HPA also reported that the number of active cases in the country has dropped from 2767 to 2763 in the last 24 hours.

It added that the number of hospitalized individuals has also reduced from 166 to 157 in one day.

HPA said that 1304 individuals remained under isolation at various facilities across the country.

The COVID-19 pandemic has claimed 29 lives in the Maldives including 23 locals and 6 foreigners.
