On Thursday, 03 September 2020, it was reported that local authorities made arrest of a minor in possession of over 200 cans of alcoholic beverages.
During an operation led by Maldives Police Service following reports to their Intelligence Department, two individuals were arrested with a total of 240 cans containing beer.
A joint operation by Drug Enforcement Department and Drug Intelligence under court-order led to a Galolhu district residence where they made the discovery.
Following the crackdown, authorities made arrest of a 29 year old individual along with a 17 year old minor - authorities may charge the individual as juvenile offender.
Recent crackdown on illicit narcotics and alcoholic beverages have resulted in massive confiscations across the Capital City of Maldives.
