Health Protection Agency HPA has reported 199 new cases of COVID-19 in the country today as the total number of positive cases surpass 8000 in the Maldives.
In its latest tweet, HPA said out of the 199 cases reported today, 168 were confirmed from the Greater Male’ Area while 31 were reported from the islands.
HPA said the new cases include 145 Maldivians, 42 Bangladeshi, 5 Indians, 3 Sri Lankans, 2 Americans, 1 Chinese and 1 Japanese national.
The new cases have taken the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country to 8003.
Meanwhile, HPA confirmed that the number of recoveries has reached 5265 in the Maldives with 2703 active cases of COVID-19 in the country.
HPA said that 1395 were currently under isolation and that 162 remained hospitalized for further treatment.
Authorities have confirmed that 29 people have succumbed to the COVID-19 pandemic here in the Maldives including 23 locals and 6 foreigners.
