Health Protection Agency HPA has confirmed 20 new cases of COVID-19 from 7 islands across 6 atolls in the Maldives today.

HPA had said that from Dhaalu Kudahuvadhoo four individuals had tested positive COVID-19 including a 1-month old infant. HPA said the three others who tested positive include a 3-year-old boy, a 24-year-old woman, and a 34-year-old man, believed to be from the same family.

They were all tested positive after completing the mandatory 14-days home quarantine following travels to the Male’ Area.

HPA also said four individuals were tested from Lhaviyani Naifaru today. It said the new cases from the islands include a 57-year-old woman, a 27-year-old woman, an 18-year-old man, and a 27-year-old local man. HPA had confirmed that they had given samples after completing the 14-days mandatory home quarantine after traveling to the Male’ Area.

Meanwhile, HPA confirmed new cases from 2 islands in Raa Atoll including Inguraidhoo and Rasmaadhoo. HPA said that 4 individuals had tested positive for COVID-19 from Inguraidhoo including a 1-year-old girl, a 26-year-old woman, a 32-year-old Bangladeshi man, and a 52-year-old Indian man.

HPA had said that a 65-year-old local man from Rasmaadhoo had also tested positive for COVID-19 today.

In Gaafu Alifu Dhaandhoo two cases of COVID-19 confirmed including a 19-year-old man and a 59-year-old Maldivian woman.

Meanwhile, HPA confirmed 4 COVID-19 cases from Baa Eydhafushi today including a 3-month-old infant. The other three individuals include a 3-year-old girl, a 42-year-old woman, and a 64-year-old woman.

HPA also reported that a 54-year-old man from Shaviyani Feevah has also tested positive for COVID-19 today.

The Agency confirmed that all these cases were reported after the individuals had given their sample for testing upon completion of the 14-days mandatory home quarantine following travels to Male’.

Last night HPA had said that 31 islands across the country are hosting active cases of COVID-19 in the Maldives.

A total of 7804 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in the Maldives as the number of COVID-19 deaths recorded in the country reached 29 earlier today.
