MP for Th. Guraidhoo Constituency and Vice President of PPM Mohamed Ghassan Maumoon has tested negative for COVID-19.
In a tweet, Ghassan confirmed his negative result after his father and former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom tested positive for the viral contagion.
MP Ghassan said that he prayed for a speedy recovery for his beloved father and all the others tested positive for COVID-19 in the country.
He also thanked that doctors and nurses fighting the pandemic in the country saying that upon seeing their tireless efforts up close, he cannot be anything but thankful for their sincere services.
With 178 new cases of COVID-19 reported yesterday, the total number of COVID-19 cases has now reached 7225 in the country.
HPA confirmed 122 individuals recovered from COVID-19 yesterday in the Maldives taking the total number of recoveries to 4561.
However, 2636 individuals remained as active cases of COVID-19 in the country with 1458 placed under state-run isolation facilities. The number of hospitalized individuals has now reduced to 162 from 173 yesterday.
The COVID-19 pandemic has claimed 28 lives in the Maldives including 22 locals and 6 foreigners.
