DRP Leader and MP for Kaashidhoo constituency Abdullah Jabir is contemplating an emergency motion that sheds light on an important issue facing fishermen in the country.

His emergency motion revolves around the issue that Maldivian fishermen are not paid on the spot after their catch is assessed by weighing vessels.

He plans to question related government organizations on the issue.

MP Jabir is set to submit his emergency motion at the parliamentary session scheduled for next Monday and has now invited fishermen from the country to join the MP at the parliamentary chamber to listen to the debate on the issue.

He has attempted to submit several emergency motions regarding the fisheries industries including an emergency motion on the presence of dangerous species of sharks habituating in the country’s seas and highlighted the damages brought to fishermen because of these creatures. But the Emergency Motion was thrown out of the chamber.
