Health Protection Agency HPA Director Ahmed Nasir says only 7 establishments that were shut down during HPA’s large scale inspection in the Greater Male’ Area remained closed.
Speaking at the latest press briefing held by the Health Emergency Operations Center HEOC, Nasir said during the HPA inspection, it had issued a sticker to the establishments operating within the guidelines set by the Agency.
He also said for those establishments found disobeying the guidelines were shut down with a notice of closure issued.
Nasir clarified the process that allowed the establishments that were shut down to reopen by saying that HPA only allowed such establishments to reopen for business one day after its closure.
Nasir said only 7 such establishments remained closed following the inspection by HPA in the Greater Male’ Area.
He said that this includes 2 shops, 2 salons/ barbershops and 3 café’/restaurants.
Nasir said 9 teams of two worked to inspect the service establishments across the Greater Male’ Area and until the 8th of this month each team had been inspecting a total of 20 establishments on a daily basis.
HPA statistics show that it had closed down 204 of the 1179 establishments inspected in the Male’ while 48 were shut down after inspecting 296 in Hulhumale.
As for Villimale, HPA inspected 51 establishments and closed down 3 and also closed down 3 out 17 inspected in Thilafushi.
HPA also inspected the establishments in Velaana International Airport but did not close down any of the establishments there.
