Home Ministry says gatherings in the Male’ area would only be allowed with written permission from the police.
In a statement, the Ministry said as per order from the Ministry under the Freedom of Peaceful Assembly the Ministry, gatherings can only be held with the written permission from the police.
The Ministry also reminded that the gatherings without permission could only be held at the Carnival Area in Henveiru Ward of the capital City.
Earlier, Health Protection Agency HPA cautioned against gatherings of more than 30 people in the Male’ Area with the number of COVID-19 cases on the rise in the capital city.
The capital city, especially Male’ has seen several protests in the last week or so with opposition and local advocacy groups also have arranged demonstrations.
Meanwhile, migrant workers have demonstrated in Hulhumale on several occasions demanding overdue salaries and pay.
