Health Protection Agency HPA has announced that it would be conducted a mass public health inspection in the Greater Male’ Region.

In a tweet, HPA said that the inspection is set to begin on the 12th of this month in the capital city.

HPA also said that it would be inspecting practices of COVID-19 safety guidelines by different service providers.

HPA said this would include local eateries, grocery shops, gyms, and fitness centers as well as saloons and markets and would check whether the establishments are adhering to the guidelines set by the HPA.

HPA added that it would be collaborating with other government agencies to successfully carry out the inspection in the Greater Male’ Area.

Meanwhile, Health Emergency Operation Center HEOC said the establishments would be given guidance on how to correctly adhere to guidelines.

It also said that there would be a follow-up inspection to see if the guidance has been followed.

HEOC noted that since the intention is the safety of public and encouraging establishments to adhere to the guidelines and that action for failure to adhere will be considered thereafter.

Health officials initiated phase III of the lockdown in the greater Male’ area on the first of this month with schools, government offices now allowed to open. Also, communal prayers have resumed in the capital city while restaurants, gyms, café’ and retail services have all restarted their operations.
