According to Health Protection Agency (HPA) a total of 17 new positive cases of Covid-19 were discovered on Thursday, 18 June.
Moreover, the health authority confirmed apart from the positive cases a larger batch of recoveries were discovered, with a total of 82 recoveries reported on the same day.
With the latest development the total number of positive cases found from Maldives so far have reached 2,137 inclusive of both active cases and recoveries.
The positive batch discovered on Thursday includes 7 Maldivians, 6 Bangladeshis, 3 Indians and 1 Nepalese. According to HPA and Ministry of Health's dashboard the total number of Maldivians contracting the disease have reached 737 so far.
Bangladesh nationality reflected the highest number of positive cases with a total of 1,124 reported so far.
Meanwhile the recoveries have now reached 1,759 cases, the recovery rate as per the Ministry of Health has reached over 79 percent.
So far Maldives reports only 8 casualties related to the viral contagion, which is about a 0.38 percent mortality rate.
