Health Protection Agency HPA has revised and released the home quarantine guidelines as the country looks ahead to life under the ‘new normal’.
HPA’s revision to the home quarantine guidelines states that household members of the house where a person is kept under quarantine can go out for essential needs but with special provisions and measures.
HPA instructed that even if such individuals go outside for essential needs, they are prohibited from visiting other houses and relatives.
While HPA had kept the other instruction in the guideline, the document states that the person quarantined at home should be kept in a separate room and isolated from the other household members.
The guideline also said that even if the room is air-conditioned, windows must be opened once a day for ventilation.
HPA had recommended that the room come with an attached bathroom and if more than one person is being quarantined then their beds must be kept at least 3ft apart.
It also said that those quarantined must not share the same bathroom with an elderly person above 60 years of age or a person with a chronic disease.
HPA had said those returning to the islands from Male’ Area and those returning home from abroad would be allowed to stay under home quarantine under the said guidelines.
