The government says café and Restaurants in the Male’ Area can open for takeaways and deliveries on the 15th of June.

Speaking at the presser organized by the NEOC, Health Ministry’s Assistant Director Aminath Shaina Abdullah said that café and restaurants would be allowed to operate with the lockdown ease and that they can take takeaway and delivery orders only starting Monday.

She said that these places would be open for dine-in customers next month.

Meanwhile, Shaina said that shops can allow walk-in customers from 9 am to 9 pm and are allowed to do deliveries till 11 pm.

She said that all businesses must display the maximum number of people allowed inside and must mark distancing measures on the ground outside shops and restaurants.

Shaina said that facemasks are mandatory in closed spaces and public areas and that the shops should have hand sanitizing at entry points.

She also said that business entities must still apply for permits until the next phase of lockdown ease.

The lockdown eases came as authorities confirmed a drop in positive cases of Covid-19 in the last few days.

But authorities warned that a number of triggers would prompt them to reinstate the restrictive measures in the capital city and that these triggers did not just depend on a surge of new cases.
