The Parliament secretariat says the public can now submit their complaints against the National Integrity commission NIC to the parliament.

In a statement, the parliament secretariat said that the committee on National Security Services has found that the NIC had been negligent in investigating the cases submitted to the commission in recent days.

The Parliament Committee on Independent Institutions has now formed a subcommittee to scrutinize the members of the commission.

This subcommittee is now investigating whether or not the NIC is carrying out the responsibilities assigned to the commission.

The statement from the parliamentary secretariat also said that the investigation carried out by the subcommittee found that the National Integrity commission had failed to follow up on complaints submitted against law enforcement agencies and agents of such agencies.

It said in this context it is vital to seek the concerns of those who had submitted complaints against Law enforcement agencies and their agents.

The parliamentary secretariat said that those who wished to submit complaints are welcome to do so in writing and must send their complaints before 2:00 pm on the 16th of April. It also said the complaint must include the name and contact information of the individual making the complaint.

The parliament committee on Independent institutions has been seeking assistance of the National Integrity Commission to know more about the works of Independent Institutions during the Covid-19 crisis. But the committee had confirmed that the commission has no cooperated in the matter thus prompting ruling MDP MPs to call for the resignation of the Commission members.
