Maldives Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday confirmed an Indian military vessel has been scheduled to repatriate the country's locals.

According to the ministry, the Indian government will be dispatching one of its military vessels to Maldives in order to repatriate a total of 700 stranded Indians back home.

The ministry's Director of Communications Mohamed Miuvan attested the news confirming the vessel will berth at Maldives on 4 June.

The news was corraborated by Indian authorities, via its navy on Twitter. According to Indian navy's official spokesperson the INS Jalashwa will be sailing out to repatriate its citizens from Colombo before arriving in Maldives.

Meanwhile Maldives government have worked closely with New Delhi to repatriate 1488 of Indian nationals back to their homes, amid the ongoing viral pandemic.
