Health Protection Agency HPA says islands without Covid-19 can now resume public services as the government looks to ease some of the restrictive measures taken against Covid-19.

In a notice published in the government Gazette, HPA said that restrictive measures taken in islands except Male’ Area, islands under monitoring and islands within the 14-day duration post monitoring, would be lifted from today onwards.

HPA said islands can now resume public services including social and economic services and islanders are now allowed to move within the island itself.

HPA also advised that even though restrictive measures have been lifted in the islands, inhabitants must maintain social distancing practices.

HPA said although preventive measures in the islands have been lifted, non-essential travel between the islands remains prohibited.

The islands under monitoring and within 14-day duration post monitoring include;

  • Male' City (under monitoring)
  • Shaviyani atoll Narudhoo (under monitoring)
  • Noonu atoll Manadhoo (under monitoring)
  • Kaafu atoll Himmafushi (observing 14-day duration since monitoring revocation)
