Deputy Mayor of Male’ City Council Shamau Shareef says businesses can now apply for permits via the City Council amid the lockdown of the capital city.
Speaking to the media, Shamau individuals must continue applying to the police for permits. He said that however, to acquire permits, businesses should now apply to City council via a portal on its website.
He said the once the businesses apply for the permits, the city council would conduct a verification process and that the police would issue the permit once the verification process is cleared.
Shamau also said to re-open private offices, they must apply for the permit via the Economic Ministry portal.
The government has eased some of the restrictive measures in place in the capital city to quell the Covid-19 outbreak with more retail businesses now allowed to operate amid the month-old lockdown of the city.
This would include Supermarkets, Bakeries, Grocery Shops, Pharmacies, Book Shops, Hardware stores, and shops that sell baby products.
