National Emergency Operations Center NEOC confirms that a total of 86 people have now recovered from the Covid-19 global pandemic in the Maldives.

NEOC confirmed this in its latest media briefing held earlier tonight.

However, it did not give details about the new recoveries but did say that it included a patient on the ventilator who is admitted in Dharumavantha Hospital 11th floor DH11.

Meanwhile, 37 people tested positive for the virus today alone taking the total number of positive cases in the island nation to 1143.

This includes 15 locals and 19 Bangladeshi nationals along with 3 Indians.

Health experts have said the current surge of infections is expected to hit a peak at the end of the month. They have predicted that on the peak day, 1600 individuals are expected to test positive for Covid-19.

Four people have died of Covid-19 in the Maldives including three locals above 80-years of age and a 33-year-old Bangladeshi national.
