Maldives Police Service confirm they fined 543 persons and arrested 18 individuals amid total lockdown over viral pandemic's community spread.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Ismail Naveen confirmed the recent statistics of breaches against state imposed lockdown regulations during the press conference on Sunday afternoon.
The ACP of local law enforcement confirmed 53 individuals were fined from the satellite town; Hulhumale' and another 32 were fined from the village-town; Vilimale'.
Authorities had fined a total of 166 persons on Saturday, 25 April, out of which 139 were fined at Male' City, 23 from Hulhumale' and only 05 from Vilimale'.
Moreover, police confirm a total of 18 individuals were apprehended for breaching the lockdown regulations. While 17 of these individuals were arrested from Male' City, the remaining individual was arrested from Hulhumale'.
As of now, a total of 49 persons have been brought under police custody for serious breach of the state imposed regulations over a total lockdown due the dangers of the COVID-19 virus's community spread in Maldives capital.
ACP Naveen further attested a total of 18 buildings accommodating expatriates were under monitoring. Authorities confirm a total of 837 persons take residence in all 18 properties, collectively.
Meanwhile, the total number of positive cases of the virus in Maldives have risen to 177 (inclusive of the 17 recoveries).
