Maldives Blood Service on Monday, 20 April, confirmed relative scarcity of blood for patients amid the lockdown.
According to the entity, blood donations have slowed down in light of the total lockdown across Greater Male' Region as well as in all parts of the country.
In a tweet, the blood service entity have requested from Maldives public, from its healthy members to donate blood for thalassaemic patients and others in need of blood transfusion.
Recently Maldives Blood Service confirmed the stock on O-Positive and B-Positive blood groups were running low. The service had on two previous occasions announced seeking donors for the mentioned blood groups.
The service will be accepting blood donations from Sunday through Thursday between 08:00hrs and 15:00hrs.
The relative scarcity of blood from local 'blood banks' have coincided with travel restrictions on resort employees - who are the largest donor component in the country, with regards to blood donations.
