The official spokesperson on COVID-19 updates in Maldives, Mohamed Mabrouk Azeez on Sunday has confirmed employment details of the 15 expatriates testing positive for the virus.

According to Mabrouk Azeez, all 15 expatriates are employed at local trading ventures Lily Group and Bright Brothers.

During the latest press briefing via web-conference, Mabrouk revealed 13 out of the 15 were employed at Lily Enterprises while the remaining two worked at Bright Brothers.

He further revealed the expat employees at Bright Brothers were of Indian origin.

Additional details on Sunday multiple positive cases revealed many of these expats wroked in delivery departments of their respective employers. Some of the foreign workers were airconditioner repairmen and technicians.

On Sunday, 19 April 2020, it was confirmed that 13 expatriates on top of the earlier confirmed 2 expat cases had tested positive for the virus.

With this latest development, Health Protection Agency (HPA) confirmed the total number of confirmed cases from Greater Male' Region have increased to 31.

Maldives now have a total of 51 confirmed cases of the COVID-19 virus, with 33 currently sick and 16 making recoveries.

All affected persons will be transferred to isolation facilities in accordance with health guidlines line by HPA, for treatment.
