Health Protection Agency (HPA) has confirmed they will contact or seek out for personal information from public for contact tracing through their official handles or accounts.

The agency confirmed they will reach out or post calls for contact tracing and relevant updates on the official social media accounts or handles, or will reach to individuals for personal information through government permitted procedures.

Moreover, HPA alarmed the public to stay cautious of illicit attempts to acquire personal information.

The agency's statement come amid dubious documents making rounds on social media calling out the public to present personal information through designated contact numbers.

The post sought to seek any individual who may have visited a local trade shop - named 'Lily Store' - within the last 14 days. The social media post had provided two contact numbers; 7909653 and 7889748, both of which have been switched off.

An employee of Lily Store was included among the 14 positive cases for COVID-19 discovered in Male' City. The individual have been identified as Case-27, and health authorities have found four individuals in relation to the case amid contact tracing.

It has been confirmed Cases 29, 30 and 34 were direct contacts of Case-27. Apart from the 13 locals discovered positive from Maldives capital, health authorities confirmed a Bangladeshi national at Male' City tested positive for the virus as well.

The expatriate have been identified to be employed at Lily Store as well.
