Health Protection Agency HPA’s Medical Officer Dr. Fathmath Nazla Rafeeq says the two new cases of Covid-19 reported in Male’ today have no connection to the other previous positive cases from Male’.
Speaking to the media today, Dr. Nazla said Case 27 and Case 28 had no connection to any other positive cases and that this proves that the virus is spreading in the community rapidly.
She added that authorities were working to figure out how these individuals contracted the highly contagious virus.
Dr. Nazla said with the recent developments there are now three clusters of Covid-19 cases in Male’ alone and that the progress of the virus has now entered a critical stage here in the Maldives
With 8 cases of Covid-19 discovered in Male’ in three days, authorities are working to quell the further spread of the global pandemic. HPA announced earlier today that the Greater Male’ Area will remain under lockdown for 2 weeks.
HPA had also announced that non-essential travels between the islands have now been banned.
