Government Spokesperson on Covid-19 Mohamed Mabrouk Azeez says there will be an investigation on how those quarantined at Eriyadu Facility behaved as more questions about the Maldivian who tested positive for Covid-19 while quarantined at the Facility surface.

Updating the local media on the latest developments on Covid-19, Mabrouk said a probe would be arranged because some individuals quarantined at the facility had acted outside the quarantine guidelines set by the authorities. Mabrouk said some individuals had wandered outside their rooms and went to the beach while under quarantine.

He clarified that some quarantine facilities allowed its residents to leave their rooms and go to the beach but that there are reports that some individuals have behaved outside of the rules set for the establishment.

Mabrouk said following such reports Technical Advisory Group TAG team at National Emergency Operation Center had decided to investigate the matter further. He added that the individuals quarantined at Eriyadu would only be released once the investigation concludes.

Mabrouk explained the authorities want to find out the amount of contact each of the quarantined individuals had with each other and that samples have been taken from 17 individuals so far.
