Health Protection Agency HPA says all staff from kuredu will be tested for Covid-19 as the resort seeks clearance from authorities.

Speaking to the media, Official spokesperson for Covid-19 updates Mohamed Mabrouk Azeez said incubation period for Kuredu island resort has been completed.

But he said that resort staff could only leave the resort once all the staff is tested for Covid-19.

Kuredu Island resort reported the first case of Covid-19 in Maldives and is the only resort where the virus transmitted from a tourist carrying the virus to resort staff and infected five others.

Mabrouk said the decision to test all the staff from the resort was taken with the advice from the Technical Advisory Group TAG team.

709 employees remain in Kuredo Island Resort and all of them must take the test for Covid-19. All of them can leave the resort once they test negative for the highly contagious virus.

Twenty people have tested positive for Covid-19 here in the Maldives including 5 Maldivians.

Government has taken several measures to deter the community spread of the virus with government offices, schools, universities and colleges closed along with public parks, café’s and restaurants.
