On Sunday, 12 April 2020, it was officially reported one out of the five Maldivians tested positive for COVID-19 has recovered from the disease.

The confirmation was made by the official spokesperson on COVID-19 updates in Maldives, President's Office Under-Secretary Mabrouk Abdul Azeez on Sunday evening.

The individual, simply identified on official case records as 'Case-16' has recovered from the disease as per health authorities.

Dr Moosa Murad, from the Technical Advisory Group (TAG) attested the information stating the two samples collected from patient post the initial confirmation, had tested negative.

So far the island nation confirms a total of 5 locals contracting the viral disease. Four of these locals flew in from United Kingdom and the fifth from Philippines.

Individuals at quarantine facilities in Maldives are discharged post two separate tests conducted post quarantine duration, to assess presence of the disease.

Maldives have so far reported a total of 20 cases of contagion, while only 4 are currently infected and in treatment.
