Health Protection Agency HPA says 19 people were released home from quarantine facilities established across the nation today.

Speaking to the media, Dr. Moosa Murad said a total of 862 people remain under quarantine at various facilities set-up in the country.

He said the 19 individuals released had completed their 14-day mandatory quarantine and also tested negative for Covid-19 before their release.

Dr. Murad said 80 others would be released tomorrow and that work is already underway to take necessary samples from these individuals.

He also said 11 people are isolated at Velidhoo facility and one person is staying in Dharumavantha Hospital. He clarified that individual has been discharged from the hospital and would be moved to another facility tomorrow.

A total of 2612 samples have been taken for testing here in the Maldives with 2507 samples tested negative. Officials say 86 samples remain pending in the laboratory.

Nineteen people have tested positive for the virus here in Maldives with 13 of them now declared free of the virus.

Out of the 6 remaining positive patients, four are still under treatment. All four are Maldivians who came back from the UK.

Two Italians who tested positive for Covid-19 had departed home before their test results were released.
