The Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) has cautioned all local sea vessel operators and travelers to be cautious of an adrift barge.
The authority confirms, an unmanned barge has become adrift on the ocean between Alif-Alif atoll and Kaafu atoll. The Coastguard unit of MNDF warned everyone traveling by sea to be cautious about the unmanned vessel.
According to Coastguard, the barge unberthed from Kaafu atoll Giraavaru lagoon and was reportedly drifting south-west.
The vessel is confirmed to be a 100-feeter steel barge, and authorities have warned the vessel does not have any indicators or any form of lights turned on.
