National Carrier Maldivian says it has scheduled additional flights to Addu City and Fuvamulah City.
Speaking to the media, spokesperson for Maldivian Mr. Moosa Waseem said with many resorts now given permission to allow their staff to leave the resorts, the airline anticipates a surge in local air travel.
He said Maldivian has schedule more flights to these destinations to carter for this surge travel.
Mr. Moosa highlighted that the national carrier is strictly following guidelines set by Health Protection Agency HPA to mitigate the spread of Covid-19. He said passengers are now required to sign a declaration as approved by HPA and will only be allowed to check-in after they sign the declaration.
Mr. Moosa said passengers are now required to fill forms before or during their travels and are required to disclose their medical history and conditions.
The National Carrier has been transporting Maldivians stranded abroad amid the Covid-19 crisis with repatriation flights to Lanka, Cochin and Malaysia already bringing home more than 400 Maldivians.
