National Carrier Maldivian says its repatriation flight to India’s Trivandrum has been scheduled for 11th April as work to bring home Maldivians stranded abroad amid covid-19 crisis gathers momentum.
Speaking at the news briefing held at Dharubaaruge, spokesperson for Maldivian Mr. Moosa Waseem said a Maldivian charter flight to transport Maldivians back from Trivandrum will depart this coming Saturday.
Mr. Moosa said the flight would carry Maldivians who had brought return tickets from the airline as the return flight scheduled for 21st of March was cancelled. He added that the flight will also carry those who travelled to Trivandrum via national health scheme Aasandha.
Speaker further, Mr. Moosa said with many concerns raised regarding the pricing of the tickets for the rescue flights, Maldivian have worked with Maldives Airports Company Limited MACL to find concessions.
He announced revised ticketing prices saying a ticket from Colombo would cost USD 220 while a ticket back from Cochin would cost USD149.
Mr. Moosa added that a ticket for the flight from Trivandrum would be sold for USD 199 while the cost for a ticket from Malaysia would be USD 330.
Government of Maldives and the national carrier have been working to bring back Maldivians stranded abroad amidst global pandemic Covid-19.
Maldivian’s charter flights to Lanka and India’s Cochin have already transported more tha 289 Maldivians back home this week.
