Official spokesperson Mr. Mohamed Mabrouk Azeez says 3 individuals who had close contact with infected footballer Marouane Fellaini have been released home from the Velidhoo isolation facility.
Speaking to the media tonight, Mr. Mabrouk said these 3 individuals were released after they tested double negative for Covid-19 virus having completed their mandatory separation period of 14 days.
Mr. Mabrouk also highlighted that 60 individuals placed under quarantine at Bandos and Madivaru facilities were also released today having completed their mandatory 14-day separation period. He added that these individuals were also tested for covid-19 virus before their release and only released once they tested double negative for the highly contagious virus.
Mr. Mabrouk said samples were also taken from 41 individuals and they would be released home tomorrow once they test negative for the virus.
Mr. Mabrouk said as of 7pm tonight, 12 people remain isolated at various facilities and that 852 individuals remain under quarantine facilities across the nation.
The spokesperson also noted that as of 4pm today, 1793 samples have been taken with 1774 negative samples. He said there were no pending samples at the laboratory.
Nineteen people have tested positive for Covid-19 in Maldives including four Maldivians who came back from the UK.
