Maldives former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom's younger sister, Moomina Abdul Gayoom has passed away.
Ms Gayoom was also the elder sister to Gayoom's half brother, the former President Yameen Abdul Gayoom.
She was a reputed government official with a long government tenure, and most notable for several contributions made for Maldivian history and literature.
The late Moomina Abdul Gayoom is also the grandmother of Bassam Adheel Jaleel, the current President of Football Association of Maldives (FAM).
During her long served government tenure, she filled the Assistant Director position of the then Center for Dhivehi Language and History.
