World Health Organization WHO provides 50 lab test kits used to detect the Covid-19 virus to Maldives to further reinforce the country's fight against the global pandemic.
In a ceremony held at Coronavirus Response Center today, WHO representative to Maldives, Mr. Arvind Mathur presented the test kits, which were received by Minister of Health Mr. Abdulla Ameen.
In a tweet Health Protection Agency HPA said these 50 lab testing kits can run 5000 covid-19 tests.
Speaking at the ceremony Minister Ameen confirmed that Maldivian authorities have so far tested over 1500 individuals for the global pandemic.
Nineteen people have tested positive for Covid-19 here in the Maldives, including four Maldivians who returned back from the UK. Currently, only the four infected Maldivians remain under treatment.
