Official spokesperson for Covid-19 related updates Mr. Mohamed Mabrouk Azeez says 187 samples were taken for testing today.
Speaking to the media tonight, Mr. Mabrouk said officials were working to take an additional 43 samples.
Mr. Mabrouk said since the start of the Covid-19 crisis a total of 1573 samples have been taken for testing and of that 1489 tested negative for the global pandemic.
He highlighted that as of 4pm this evening only 65 samples were pending.
Mr. Mabrouk said currently 12 individuals have been placed at various isolation facilities and 809 individuals have been secluded at the quarantine facilities. He said these past two days 73 individuals have been released from the quarantine facilities upon completion of their 14-day mandatory quarantine period.
In Maldives, 19 individuals have tested positive for this highly contagious illness including 4 Maldivians. These 4 Maldivians are the only patients currently under treatment.
