It has been revealed that national Carrier Maldivian will charge rufiyaa 4626 for one seat on its repatriation flight scheduled for Lanka.
Maldivian announced these flights to bring home the Maldivians stranded there amid covid-19 crisis. It has also scheduled flights to India’s Cochin.
Reports of conflicting ticket prices have since emerged.
Some customers said, when they inquired about ticket pricing for the chartered flights, Maldivian said it would charge rufiyaa 1333 for an adult and rufiyaa 86 for a child. But some customers were informed that rufiyaa 4626 would be charged for all passengers.
Although, ‘The Press’ called Maldivian for a comment on ticket pricing but were unable to reach an official for an explanation.
‘The Press’ also reached the Foreign Ministry asking for a comment regarding Maldivians, who are unable to pay for the return ticket aboard the repatriation flight, the ministry said they have not yet finalized rules on such matters and will announce once these are finalized.
Speaking to the Media last night, Official Spokesperson for Covid-19 updates Mr. Mohamed Mabrouk Azeez said these chartered flights were scheduled unexpectedly and officials were still working on ticket pricing.
