Health Protection Agency HPA says Male’ City including Villimale and Hulhumale would be placed under curfew for three hours every day effective tomorrow.

The order for curfew came under the vested authority to Director General of Public Health Maimoona Aboobakuru in accordance to the Public Health Act with the government announcing a state of public health emergency to fight global Pandemic Covid-19.

The order states that starting from tomorrow civilians would not be allowed to outside between 5pm to 8pm every evening. The order also prohibits the operation of land vehicles and public transport within these three hours.

The order highlights 10 exemptions from its instructions that include security forces, duty officers from law enforcement agencies and their vehicles, healthcare facility professionals and their vehicles as well as uniformed duty staff from Waste Management Corporation WAMCO and their vehicles.

Also exempted from the order are uniformed duty staffs from Ooredoo, Dhiraagu, the banks, STO, Stelco, MWSC and their vehicles. The curfew order says vehicles operated by the state under ‘G’ board as well as diplomatic vehicles and ambulances will be exempted. Additionally, staffs that have the a pass from National Emergency operation Center as well pharmacy staff and their vehicles would allowed to operate within these three hours as well as vehicles with a special sticker from HPA.

The order urges all to abide by its instructions. Legal action can be taken against those who fail to follow such orders from the Director General of Public Health.
