Health Protection Agency HPA said it is testing a Maldivian who traveled to Europe and Middle East for Covid-19 after the person reported symptoms of the global pandemic.

In a tweet HPA said the person’s sample has already been taken and has been sent for testing with the person now being moved to Velidhoo Isolation facility for monitoring.

Official spokesman of the government on Covid-19 related updates Mr. Mabrouk Abdul Azeez announced on the 18th of this month that all inbound passengers, except for tourists, will be placed under a 14 day quarantine as part of government measures taken to prevent further spread of the global pandemic.

With 13 tested positive for Covid-19 in Maldives so far, three have now been declared free of the virus. No Maldivian have yet been tested for the virus.
