President's Office Under Secretary and the official spokesperson on COVID-19 developments in Maldives Mr Mabrouk Abdul Azeez says 442 people are currently residing in the quarantine facilities set-up as part of the continuing efforts to prevent a full-scale Covid-19 outbreak in Maldives.
Speaking to reporters earlier tonight, he said another 20 are currently staying at the isolation facilities established by authorities.
Mr. Mabrouk said 17 of the 20 are currently residing in the isolation facility set up in Velidhoo and 3 more are isolated on the 11th floor of Dharumavantha Hospital.
As for those under quarantine, Mr. Mabrouk said quarantine facility in Fun Island resort is hosting 64 out of the 442 with 41 residing in Biyadhoo. Holiday Island resort is the resort hosting the most number of those quarantined with 89 while Hulhule Island resort hosting a further 136. Mr. Mabrouk confirmed that 28 people are currently residing in quarantine facility established in vilivaru with another 67 in Malahini kuda bandos resort. He also said additional 15 are currently quarantined in Dhigiri with another 2 qurantined in Island Safari boat that had already reported two confirmed Covid-19 cases.
A total of 13 foreigners, mostly tourists, have been tested positive for Covid-19 here in the Maldives with three now declared free of the virus.
